Rafael is a filmmaker, writer, actor, and executive producer behind internationally awarded films, TV series, and campaigns. At 42, he brings nearly four decades of experience in the entertainment industry.
His HBO original documentary Herchcovitch; Exposto received a nomination at the 2025 International Emmy® Awards (Arts Programming), and his first fiction feature, O Invisível (The Invisible), won Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay at the All That Moves International Film Festival 2026 and was selected for a range of respected international film festivals. In 2022, Rafael was recognized as an Outstanding Director at the Promax Global Excellence and Promax Latin America Awards. His directing credits also include the documentary All That Drag (NBCUniversal) and multiple television series.
He is the creator of acclaimed TV shows such as Perícia Lab (AXN), Cinelab Aprendiz (Universal/Syfy), Missão AXN (AXN), Na Corrida (History Channel), and Realidade ou Ficção (AXN), and served as executive producer on four NBCUniversal documentaries focused on women’s empowerment.
Rafael began his career in television at an early age and later shared the stage with renowned Brazilian actor Paulo Autran in O Céu Tem Que Esperar. His theater work has reached audiences of over 100,000 people. He also hosted X-Tudo on TV Cultura, a nationally broadcast children’s program that became a cultural landmark for a generation of Brazilian viewers in the 1990s.
He is the author of Manual do Jovem Cineasta (Ciranda Cultural), a book introducing young readers to filmmaking.
Since 2014, Rafael has been a partner and Chief Creative Officer at Mood Hunter, an international creative studio with offices in the United States, Brazil, and Colombia.
